Analysis of the Impact of Meteorological Factors on Ambient Air Quality during the COVID-19 Lockdown in Jilin City in 2022

This paper explored the changes of six significant pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, O3, and CO) in Jilin City during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic 2022, compared them with same period previous years to analyze impact anthropogenic emissions on concentration pollutants; The Weather Research Forecasting Community Multiscale Air Quality (WRF–CMAQ) model was used evaluate effect meteorological factors pollutant concentration. results showed that except for concentrations other five decreased significantly, a range 21–47%, lockdown caused by government’s shutdown travel restrictions. Compared 2021, decrease PM2.5 only 25% PM10. That because there still large amount produced coal-fired heating blockade period, which made more minor. A heavy pollution event adverse conditions found indicating controlling artificial cannot eliminate occurrence severe events. WRF–CMAQ lower 2022 not reduction but also related influence favorable (higher planetary boundary layer thickness, higher wind speed, temperature).
